Wherrytown
I like where I live because:
- I chose to live in this area and have only just moved in one week ago (22.12.2015)
- All amenities are close to our home – pleasant tree line road, close to the Promenade overlooking Mounts Bay
- Its private, my garden
- I live close to the sea and have close access to the town and parks. It is wonderful to walk along the promenade and especially to have use of the jubilee pool when it re-opens
- We are close to all amenities also Penlee Park and the Promenade
- Close to sea
- Walk to town, close to shops, no traffic problems, sea views
- I am no distance from Mounts Bay and have sea views out of most windows. Both Penzance and Newlyn are within easy walking distance
- Peace and quiet, good access to shops, town etc.
- Location, views, type of property
- The beauty of the bay, friendliness of the people. Good restaurants, many classical music concerts throughout the year. An accepting and liberal Methodist church – Newlyn trinity
- I am close to the sea, in a quiet residential area. Not too far from centre of Penzance
- See B1 & B2
- It has a good bus service (No.6) is near Lidl and has a wonderful sea view
- We have everything we need on our doorstep, views, shops, parks, beach what more could you ask for
- I have panoramic view od the sea. I love Penzance and thing that Penzance is not taken care of adequately
- It is between Newlyn and Penzance and I have access to amenities at both places. I can also enjoy the coast path between both places and of course stunning views
- Close to local shops
- Easy access to amenities and facilities
- Its fairly quiet, we can usually park right outside, lovely neighbours, great walk (pathways) to Penzance & Newlyn. We have a nice garden and a sea view
- We like Penzance, close to the railway, view of the sea, walking distance to both Newlyn and Penzance centres
- Beautiful view, quiet friendly neighbours
I don’t like where I live because:
- Speeding motorists in Alexandra Road
- Its on top of a hill! (only joking)
- No real disadvantages
- Walks along the promenade ruined by prolific dog mess, having to clean windows etc. frequently and doing washing again because of seagull mess, being woken up at dawn by seagulls, insufficient public toilets
- General disrepair and sat state of public areas
- N/A – Rains a lot!
- Very poor/very distant connections to airports
- Too much development without thought
What would you most like to change about where you live:
- Keep street cleaner, cut grass verges more often impose strict speed limit, install illuminated signs 30 MHP keep trees regularly cut
- Speed of traffic down Alexandra Road. Parking only on one side of the road
- The leaves in the autumn are hazardous and the pavements are very often very dangerous to walk on. Dog mess is also very unattractive. The council need to be more pro-active
- Slow the cars down on Alexandra Road
- Speed Camera
- Pedestrian crossing at Lariggan
- Less rain but appreciate you can’t do much about that
- Nothing other than to stop attempts at planning applications (garden grabbing)
- Nothing
- More frequent bus services, and an express bus to Truro, more public toilets which are cleaned regularly. Café’s along the promenade, and indoor market, a walkway between the station and Jubilee pool
- The derelict land/café next to Co-op developed and this end of the promenade upgraded – it is a disgrace and visitors comment. Also reduce business rates to encourage all the empty shops in town to re-open
- More jobs that provide a decent wage
- I think free parking in both Newlyn & Penzance would do so much to boost the economy and help small businesses and attract tourists. We have never paid to park in towns in France & have stopped to look around as a consequence
- Yellow lines taken away from front of drive as parking difficult during day due to daily workers from local hospital clogging up the road. Road cleaning
- Investment in the promenade, encouragement of business opportunities and leisure activities e.g. fitness stations, better traffic management and more free parking in Town Centre
- More space, less learner drives constantly outside the house
- Greater variety of flights from Newquay and Exeter
- More parking for cars, too many unnecessary yellow line i.e. rock road Penzance
- Keep the same except need to sort out parking problems with Bolitho – too many cars make the road dangerous!
