West Penzance
I like where I live because:
- Its centrally placed and close to amenities
- Easy to get into town
- It is where I call home
- It is a real community with lots of entertainment
- Close to all amenities, walking distance to our needs. Supportive neighbours
- We moved here from London over 6 years ago. We love this town. It has all the conveniences we need and more – the sea
- I am near the wonderful local hospital, station, buses, shops and lovely cafes. Also the local cinema is a real community asset, and the sea!
- Proximity to town centre and train centre
- It is close to all amenities and transport links
- It is quite quiet but parking needs to be improved and outside tidied
- Close to the town and the prom and parks, easy access to lovely walks
- It is close to amenities
- I like the house. My neighbours are nice. I love being able to walk to shops, pubs, countryside and the sea
- Every need is met
- Near the sea and town and is a pretty cottage
- I love it
- A lovely area to live. Quiet and friendly
- Near top of Causeway Head, not too far from town centre, 2 buses available
- Handy for town bus services, station, prom walks 1km away
- Close to town and facilities, I have a garden
- It is close to my doctors surgery and town
- It’s been my home for the last 80 years and is convenient for local doctors, hospital, post office and shop
- My wife and I are disabled and it seems to be a safe and trouble free area
- It is central with a garden and parking
- Penzance is a nice town. At the moment well served with small shops more welcomed. Café, pubs adequate. Good schools. WCH needs to be used more, services that used to be are returned. Poltair needs to be replaced.
- It is handy for local facilities and amenities
- It is central to everything, the neighbours are lovely
- Easy walking distance to town but still allowing me garden space
- Community
- It has a central location, easy reach of most amenities on foot. Mixed age range of residents, still has a community feel.
- Adequate accommodation, near amenities, kept in good repair
I don’t like where I live because:
- Problems with parking
- I cant park as the car parks are so dear every one parks in the street and parking enforcement office are always coming around on Sunday
- Very poor shops, dirty streets, no work, drugs everywhere
- Not enough provision for tourism. Disability access is poor and some streets are impossible to power wheelchairs. No provision for dogs off lead in central Penzance area.
- None
- There are too many dogs taken to the high street, some people selling magazines do not keep their dogs on leads, too many loose dogs along the front
- Very hard to park car during daytime Mon-Sat
- Restrictive parking in the street
- Awful lot of dog’s mess, owners should be prosecuted. Council could come around.
- It is dirty – weeds, litter and worst of all – dog excrement, it is everywhere!
- There’s no garage or parking and too much dog faeces and litter
- We need a crossing from St Clare P.O to W.C.H it’s a main road and a lot of children cross for school
- Lots of parking by non residents
- Poor internet, car crime, dog mess, parking problems during day, drug suppliers living on street
- Some elements of my walk home are poorly lit. Also the side of my house can get noisy with drunk people walking home and arguing.
- Too many stairs
- There is nowhere for children to play. Could do with some help like Treneere gets
- Parking is a nightmare, all street parking is used by hospital staff. Noise from hospital traffic and generator
- Parking, antisocial behaviour
- It is noisy, no space/garden, difficulty parking. Lots of dog mess on pavements. Traffic wardens are less than helpful. No possibility of green energy supply. Rat run for taxis. Too many out of town developments don’t maximise the beauty of the surrounding for general public
- Not insulated and difficult to heat, no garden
What would you most like to change about where you live:
- Issue a residents parking permit with council tax demands. 1 per household with an option to buy another.
- Give us parking permits, make car parks cheaper, put speed ramp in the street
- The above
- Dropped curbs for mobility scooter and wheelchair access and ramps for shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants. Cheaper parking would encourage visitors to use the car parks.
- Difficult to change but would like dog owners to take responsibility of their dogs. Mess on paths, near shops, parks and gardens
- Wherry town front needs to be addressed. Plus the prom in the same area needs the tarmac replaced with pacing. Its not a good look for a potentially lovely seaside town
- Dogs definitely should be under proper control. There should be one parking space FREE for each house who pay Council tax. Parking in Council car parks should be much cheaper
- Car permit scheme to allow people on street to park during working hours – rather than visitors to town
- The parking arrangements
- Area tidied up. Maybe more community activity money spent
- Clean it up! Our street often resembles an open sewer
- Residents parking designated in front and back lanes for numbered houses
- I would like less dog poo up our street and in PZ in general, and less noise at night over the weekend
- Up keep of yard is hard for me
- Parking, Toilets, drunks use outside my house
- Car parking to be made available for flats at the top of the street
- Would like bins for dog poo available as area lot of dog fouling
- Remove drug suppliers, clean up streets, improve policing/CCTV, Resident parking
- Residents parking. It’s a nightmare on our road and there’s rarely any room to park outside my house
- Too many cars parking on junctions, pavements and on corners where its lowered for mobility scooters, prams etc.
- The bus stop on Alverton road going East could have bus timetable and proper bus service. More lighting.
- Residential parking
- More small shops and businesses to be set up. WCH to be upgraded, Poltair replaced. Police to be more active and seen. Cars stopped from parking on pavements. Streets to be cleaned regularly, toilets to be more available.
- Like to move to a single story
- Play area for children. Community drop in place
- Find hospital staff a car park/residential parking permits
- Less unused disabled parking, less double yellow lines, weeds cleared, roads swept more regularly
- Small grants to improve the windows and doors of the poor streets in Penzance. More green energy possibilities.
- Trees, greenery
- Insulation, garden and more greenery in the environment
