Mousehole

Mousehole

I like where I live because:

  • It’s quiet and close to everything I need for day to day living. Good friendly community
  • It is very near to town and local shops and schools
  • It is a nice area apart from town all the rubbish that is in some of the gardens, and have good neighbours
  • I am happy here
  • It is where my family are. Local born and bred!
  • I like the location
  • Strong sense of community, low crime rate, good bus service, beautiful surroundings
  • Mousehole has a good community spirit – thanks to the Christmas lights
  • Close knit community, good bus service, shop ok
  • Sea, community, size (small), beautiful
  • It is beautiful, there is a vibrant community with school, pubs, shop and many local community events
  • I am by the sea and am lucky to have space for all my family to visit
  • Community, beauty, walking possibilities, good bus service
  • Of the community spirit and wonderful scenery
  • It’s a close knit community where there us a lot of activity under the touristy bit.
  • Public transport is good. It is a quiet, friendly community, proximity to sea, town and country conservation area, sensible planning rules (at the moment!)
  • Friendly community, open views
  • Community strong in Paul and mouse hole
  • Community, local school, open spaces
  • Good neighbours, pleasant, quiet surroundings

I don’t like where I live because:

  • Dog fouling on the pavements and the back lanes
  • Of the parking situation
  • People can’t afford to buy houses because of the tourism industry driving prices up
  • Second home domination – its destroying the heart of the village
  • Parking is a problem – Mousehole should be residents parking only and a park and ride scheme
  • No parking
  • Dog owners being inconsiderate
  • The community is being eroded as when a house changes hands or is sold it becomes yet another “holiday let” to add to the over 50% of properties that are “lets”
  • Parking on double yellow lines making passing traffic in narrow roads difficult, especially in summer.
  • I live on a hill and find it difficult to walk to the village. We have no bus that comes up Paul lane Mousehole through the day
  • N/A
  • Parking/traffic issues

What would you most like to change about where you live:

  • A leaflet drop to all homes re: dog fouling
  • We need a residents parking scheme
  • Clear the rubbish from the front gardens
  • More road cleaners to clean weeds etc.
  • Local Parish Council of Mousehole (we are not part of Penzance as current administrative arrangements suppose)
  • Provide more affordable housing and limit the number of holiday lets
  • I would like to regenerate the PZ locality with cruise ship access, more hotel chain access and more random development around
  • Car parking facilities
  • A limit to second homes and more social housing
  • Only the parking – see above
  • Enhanced parking arrangements and less through traffic
  • Dog owners being responsible
  • There are plenty of houses in Cornwall it’s the usage i.e. second homes and holiday lets that is the problem
  • Better parking for residents. NB very difficult to drive through village in summer – one way system needed?
  • More traffic wardens, no parking on double yellow lines
  • More off-road parking
  • Speed control on Mousehole lane, more affordable housing for local people
  • More considerate parking, more regular road maintenance, decent cell phone reception.
