Higher Newlyn
I like where I live because:
- Views, parking
- Good views
- Its quiet, good neighbours, access to open countryside, lovely part of the world
- Has a community, easy access to green space and shops. Reasonable diversity of housing
- Open vistas, fair bus service (no. 1 & 5
- Quiet
- Of friendly neighbours
- It’s close to town and also close to countryside – if you don’t mind negotiating Paul Hill its perfect!
- Access to fields and is on the verge of town
- It is a fishing community very close and look after each other
- It is quiet, open
- So quiet and peaceful, little traffic
- Views
- Newlyn is beautiful. Very quaint, very historic and has a mostly permanent community. We don’t suffer too much from St Ives winter desertion! It needs protection & promotion to keep its charm.
- It is where I was born and bought up, I am very fond of Newlyn and surrounding area
- It is a reasonable cul-de-sac with decent neighbours
- The views and near my family
- Convenient to town, beautiful views and countryside. Low risk of being flooded
- Was born in Newlyn, close family links, view
- I live in the countryside, also in walking distance to the sea
- We have nice views over Mounts Bay
- One good neighbour
- I like the views, and it was a real local community
I don’t like where I live because:
- No provisional shops nearby. Buses aren’t always on time
- Chywoone Hill – too much traffic and often blocked
- Have to travel the increasingly frustrating Paul Hill (Chywoone Hill)
- Chywoone Hill congestion, exposed and windy
- Congestion on Chywoone Hill
- It is windy, very steep hill
- Parking
- Parking! It is already overcrowded and people are applying to build more housing. Any waste ground to be converted to residents parking?
- Steep Hill
- The steep hill makes a short trip to the post office harder, although I find it manageable, others don’t
- Parking on Chywoone Hill – no one patrols yellow lines! Parking/driving nightmare. New builds also making problems with parking.
- I live on a housing estate and it can be noisy at times
- No parking
- It has gone down hill in the 55 years my family have lived here
- Too many up country people on drugs trying to takeover
What would you most like to change about where you live:
- Noisy motorcyclists, barking dogs
- Have a local shop within walking distance
- Better access to Newlyn, improved sewerage
- Traffic flows on Paul Hill (Chywoone Hill) particularly in the holiday season
- The traffic flow on Paul Hill – a new road from Ring & Thimble going around Tredavoe Village would suit
- Improve Chywoone Hill
- More double yellow lines near top of Paul Hill where cars park on both sides of the road making passing very often a nightmare
- I’m happy with it as it is. Would not wish for further development
- No
- Bigger garden
- Make PZ town centre car free and enforce one way system!
- Make it residents parking only. People park here and leave their vehicle for 2 weeks not moving it
- I would love to see Newlyn develop it’s Art History side, preserving what it has and promoting art trails through interactive media. Would also be nice to have a few more shops. Also continue with development of sea front gardens as wildlife space. Don’t make it too commercial though
- Better public transport, more work done keeping area clean and tidy. Fostering community spirit
- For the Councils to service (i.e. trim) the lanes behind our houses, Penwith used to look after these lanes but this useless unitary Council aren’t interested
- 1) A local skip service so that people don’t dump rubbish (i.e. bus stop at Newlyn board school stop) 2) More action against people who don’t pick up their dogs excrement
- Stop additional building, make parking on hill better – more double yellow and more monitoring of them. Better/cheaper bus routes
- More parking spaces. You cannot park outside your own home at night
- Housing estates need to be updated
- Clean up estate
- More visible police presence as rowdy at night. Cars parking on pavement. Inconsiderate parking
- Get rid of drug users and dealers from local housing association properties.
