Heamoor East
I like where I live because:
- It is a family home in a pleasant cul-de-sac on the outskirts of Penzance
- It is a nice area with friendly people & shops. It is also a convenient walk into Penzance with good schools
- On edge of town looking to open countryside
- It was a village when we purchased the house
- It is perfect for my son to walk to school, close enough to Penzance to walk and close to a pub and a shop. Love Heamoor
- My wife and I moved to Heamoor 3 years ago and have settled in very well. People are very friendly
- Usually quiet, near to shops, good neighbours
- Near to town Penzance, fields and open space way close, good neighbours
- Lucky to have a large garden with open space next door. Walking distance into centre of Penzance
- It’s a lovely village. We all know each other. There’s a wide range of housing
- It has easy access to both town and countryside
- It’s not in the main town. I have local shops nearby including post office and bakery
- Close enough to the heart of the town to have access to its benefits, while far enough on the edge to enjoy open country
- Reasonable quiet though very angry that Council don’t see danger of trees that are pulling my wall down and of falling well through my house roof
- It is a local area where people live and well maintained by householders
- It’s very quiet and residential, yet within walking distance of much needed amenities.
- Good bus route and village shops
I don’t like where I live because:
- There is an underpass close to where I live which Is a worry if going out at night as it is curved and you cannot see the other end.
- The parking situation in Heamoor generally is stupid – too many houses with insufficient parking provision
- Little sense of community. Very busy main road through Heamoor. No facilities nearby for children or community space. Walking to school hazardous for children to Penzance & Mounts Bay
- The number of estates now built around us, a lot more cars driving too fast and parking in dangerous places
- Parking can sometimes be difficult and the seagulls in the summer are horrendous!
- Parking is a big problem, yellow lines a must
- People driving too fast through the village. Sometimes parking can be an issue
- Very busy road with increasing school traffic
- There’s a very busy main road and traffic speeds are fast. We need traffic control – Sleeping Policemen?
- I don’t have a drive for my car. People speed through our village. I don’t have a garden, so a play park would help.
- Fed up with trees pulling down my wall and fed up with drugs/drunk people under underpass and in neighbouring road.
- N/A
- Because of the drug and drink problem from neighbour and area
- Quiet area
What would you most like to change about where you live:
- Generally it is ok, it’s just that it’s a house. We need a bungalow but there are very few around. Many are being converted to houses. They are all very expensive.
- The parking! Residents who live in houses with no room for parking – but own 2-3-4 cars
- Playground and café – there are disused spaces – such a shame. Little piece of grassy enclave next to Old School on the main road is crying out for someone to take care of it
- Residents parking (one car per house) back lanes being swept. Most lanes are used as dog toilets
- Remove the gulls! Cleaner pavements as well
- People with dogs given hefty fines for not cleaning up when they poo on pavements and roads, in fact everywhere. More signs
- More street cleaning, too much dog mess
- Parking restrictions on main Heamoor road to allow buses and larger traffic to move
- The lower-lying part of the village has been badly flooded several times in recent years. Need to keep drains etc. clear
- Garages, Children’s play park, speed camera
- Decent broadband (which I believe is in the pipeline)
- As above
- Nothing required, but I would like to see more affordable housing for youngsters and young families so they’re not forced to move to another town. We need a vibrant town centre
- Cameras in subway
